There is no better attacker in world football right now — you would not swap Salah for anyone. In nine games in all competitions this season he has contributed nine goals and three assists. His influence on Jurgen Klopp’s side is immense. His consistency is remarkable. With Salah leading the charge it feels like anything is possible. Without him, the future would be uncertain, the void vast. Neither party has divulged the sums discussed but if for example Salah wanted £350,000 per week over the next four years that would represent an outlay of £72.8 million. Yes, a big commitment but not in the context of trying to buy a player who could replicate his impact. Plus, there should be a high degree of reassurance in the fact that Salah is a machine physically. He missed one league game in 2020-21 and has only sat out seven in total over the past four years. Salah believes at the age of 29-year-old he is entering his prime and is keen to be rewarded accordingly. (James Pearce, The Athletic)
